Bottega Veneta amps up production with new unit

Known across the world for its handcrafted intrecciato bags, Italian luxury label has decided to expand its production capability by establishing a third unit.

Owned by France-based Kering Group, the luxury label manufactures woven leather bags at its Veneto-based Manifattura Veneta Pelletterie manufacturing company. At present with two complexes located in Altavilla Vicentina and Malo, both near Vicenza, the expansion decision will add third complex to the manufacturing unit.

Sprawling across 64,583-square-foot in Povolaro di Dueville, the unit is expected to be operational by the end of year 2020. Employment opportunities generated will benefit around 200 people.

According the information provided by the company, it pledges to hire 100 workers following the completion of the site, where it will also host training programs, as part of its Bottega Veneta’s Leather Goods Masters School. “The move reflects its journey towards internalization to maintain a standard of excellence and allow for the flexibility to quickly respond to creative requests,” reads the statement.

It is germ to mention that the Manifattura Veneta Pelletterie manufacturing company accounts for the production of more than 50 percent of the label’s leather goods, such as bags, shoes, belts, and small accessories. It was formed as a joint venture in May 2011, and is now fully controlled by the Bottega Veneta.
