Christian Dior leads the pack as world’s largest apparel company in 2019

In the 17th annual ranking of the top 2000 public companies in the world for year 2019, Christian Dior secures the top notch.

This ranking announced by the Forbes Global 2000 stated the brand as the largest apparel company which is followed by Nike and Inditex.

The luxury fashion empire Christian Dior is focused on clothing, shoes and accessories and has climbed seven spots to No. 143 on the overall list. Having secured its position as No. 1 in the apparel industry, the luxury brand had recorded its sales rise in double digits to $55 billion in 2018.

The indicator of leading public companies in the world, the Forbes Global 2000 uses a mix of four metrics: sales, profit, assets and market value. This list represented 61 countries out of which United States is home to the largest number, some 575 companies.

The next in this list were China and Hong Kong who had in total 309 companies, followed by Japan with 223.

Christian Dior earns benefits from a 41% stake in its parent company, LVMH, which owns 70 luxury brands that includes Louis Vuitton, Dom Perignon and Sephora.

In comparison to last year, Dior has reported an increase of 16% for the first quarter of 2019 and its total revenues for the quarter stood over $14 billion. The division that marked the biggest increase percentage was that of fashion and goods with a 20% increment.

Nike secures the status of second-largest apparel company in this 17th annual ranking list of Forbes Global 2000. The stock of Nike are said to be fuelled by its return to growth and its loud Colin Kaepernick ad campaign, both of which gained it a 19% gain in 2018.

The third in this list was Inditex which is a Spanish fast-fashion giant. Zara is owned by Inditex and its sales are reported to be edged up 6% to $31 billion in 2018.

What is noteworthy here is that Nike ranks No. 14 on Forbes 2019 World’s Most Valuable Brand list and Adidas follows as No. 61.
