The second edition of GOTS Bangladesh Seminar will be held on 8th September at International Convention City Bashundhra (ICCB), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Themed ‘Connecting for Success’, this year’s seminar is expected to witness gathering of key players of the industry such as brands, exporters, certifiers, chemical industry, and other significant stakeholders.
Topics that will be deliberated upon in the seminar are: Sustainable Retail: Recent trends, priorities, and experience of conscious buyers: To bemoderated by Claudia Kersten, GOTS Managing Director, Germany, the session would bring forward the recent trends, priorities and experience of conscious buyers.
GOTS Technical Criteria and its Implementation: Under the moderation of Rahul Bhajekar, GOTS Managing Director, the topic will cover latest criteria and experiences from implementation partners for technical aspects of the standard.
Connecting on the Job – Workers and Management will explore working conditions at garment factories in Bangladesh, and will try to bring together workers and factory owners to discuss relevant social compliance issues. Lastly, Connecting Supply Chain Partners will discuss the importance of different partners in the process such as garmenting, wet processing, testing, certifiers, and chemical suppliers.
Last year, Bangladesh achieved the second most GOTS certifications after India, reflecting country’s commitment of textile sector towards growth coupled with environmental and social compliances. Fire and Building Safety are included in GOTS criteria and the country has made significant progress in all these areas.
